Confirming previous rumors, Apple has begun selling a magnetic battery pack for the MagSafe-equipped iPhone models. Dubbed simply the MagSafe Battery Pack, it costs $99 in Apple's online store.
MagSafe is a new feature (with an old name) for the iPhone 12 lineup. The phones that support it have magnets on the back that can be used to attach accessories, including this one.
The chief benefit of MagSafe for a battery pack like this is that it ensures that the battery pack and the iPhone's charging coils are optimally aligned to avoid that all-too common problem with wireless charging: having your phone offset just enough from the charger that it doesn't charge (or it charges, but too slowly).
